Antique Chinese Scholar’s Calligraphy Brush with Natural Coral Handle – Circa 1900 Offered for sale is a decorative late Qing dynasty Chinese calligraphy brush, dating to circa 1900. The handle is composed of natural Mediterranean red coral, the segments irregularly shaped and displaying typical natural inclusions, fissures, and colour variation, secured between bone collars. The ferrule is turned from polished bone with concentric incised line decoration, leading to a full head of natural animal hair bristles, well retained and evenly tapered. A tactile and finely constructed scholar’s object, suitable for display or inclusion in a scholar’s desk arrangement. Unusual to find in this form with coral elements remaining intact. Length: 31 cm Condition: Good antique condition. Minor wear to surfaces and age-appropriate patina throughout. No losses or repairs.
