Early 19th Century Papier-Mâché Snuff Box with Silver Inlay, c.1820 A small and decorative early 19th-century snuff box in lacquered papier-mâché, the shaped lid finely inlaid with silver scrollwork and quatrefoil corner motifs. The surface retains a rich mottled red and black lacquer, evocative of tortoiseshell. Original internal hinge in working order — the lid closes firmly and flush. Some age-related surface cracking and small imperfections, but structurally sound and visually attractive. Measures: 6.5 cm wide x 3.5 cm deep x 3 cm high.
