18th Century Mughal Silver Dam – Reign of Shah Alam II A small 18th-century silver dam struck during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II (1759–1806). Of typical circular form, the obverse bears elegant Persian script naming the emperor (likely reading Shah Alam Badshah Ghazi). The reverse, although worn, would originally have included the regnal year and mint attribution, likely struck at one of the numerous provincial mints in northern India. Weight: 4.1 g. Diameter: 1.6 cm. A characteristic example of late Mughal fractional silver coinage, with attractive script and historic interest. Offered in good circulated condition, with wear commensurate with age.
