Pair of Cased Silver Gilt Anointing Spoons – Birmingham 1936 A decorative pair of early 20th-century English silver gilt anointing spoons, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1936. Each spoon is finely decorated with engraved floral detail to the bowl and ornate raised motifs to the handle, including rosettes and foliate ornament. The twisted stems terminate in flared ends, and the overall finish is silver gilt (vermeil). Both spoons are fully hallmarked with the maker’s mark for Barker Brothers Silver Ltd, together with Birmingham assay and date letter M for 1936. Length: 25.5 cm Total weight: 155 grams Very good condition. Housed in the original silk and velvet lined fitted case.
