Finely Engraved Persian Silver Circular Box A finely worked Persian silver circular box and cover, richly decorated throughout with dense hand-engraved foliate and floral ornament. The domed lid centred with a finely chased rosette medallion within a band of scrolling foliage, the sides with a repeating pierced and engraved frieze of stylised palmettes and arabesque motifs. Marked to the base “Made in Iran 84%”. Weight 186.6 grams. Diameter 10 cm. Height 4 cm. Very nice condition commensurate with age, lovely quality. By family descent from the grandparents of the present owners, a British military family who spent time in Iran during the mid-20th century, where the piece was originally acquired.
