Antique Solid Silver & Macassar Ebony Punch / Toddy Ladle – Early 19th Century A fine example of an early 19th-century punch or toddy ladle, featuring a beautifully crafted solid silver bowl and shaft, complemented by a long, elegant Macassar ebony handle. Measuring approximately 33cm in length, this piece is both practical and decorative, ideal for serving punch or hot toddies. The deep silver bowl is hand-hammered, showing gentle wear and a pleasing patina consistent with age and use. There are some small dinks to the silver, but they do not detract from its overall charm. Though no hallmarks are visible, the quality and construction strongly indicate solid silver, with traditional riveted workmanship at the joint. The handle is crafted from Macassar ebony, distinguished by its rich dark hues and subtle streaks of lighter brown, adding warmth and character. The handle tapers smoothly and is finished with a silver ferrule and decorative finial at the end, both indicative of the care and refinement invested in this piece. A lovely addition to any collection of Georgian or early Victorian silver and a wonderful object for display or use. Dimensions: Length: 33cm Bowl diameter: approximately 5.5cm Condition: Good antique condition with signs of age and use. The silver bowl has some minor dinks and expected surface wear and tarnish, which could be polished further if desired, though the current patina is rather attractive. The handle has wear commensurate with age but remains solid and true.
