Pair of Fine Sevres Style Cobalt Blue Rams Head Lidded urns
We are pleased to offer a stunning matched pair of highly ornate late twentieth porcelain lidded urns.
Hand painted & gilded in a classical manner with a stunning cobalt blue ground
Offered in very good condition commensurate with age. Colour rich and good and gilding very clean. No damage to the porcelain. Little verdigris and wear to ormolu and lacquered brass.
Each urn is formed of three sections; lid, body & base. A beautiful rich cobalt blue ground to the whole. The lid with ormolu finial and ormolu band to the base. A reciprocal gilt band to the upper urn and decorative gilt collar to the tapered upper section. Each urn with a fine gilt relief star to front and back and stunning heavy gilt handles to either side in the form of rams heads. Further ornate giltwork to the lower urn and a square form ormolu base.
Each urn is of an impressive size, almost 1 metre in height. Hand crafted and decorated in the manner of Sevres, created after pieces housed in the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg. Commissioned as a one off pair in the late 1980's, these urns are of a of superb hand crafted quality and would grace any residence.
