Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Dish – 19th Century
A finely hand-painted Japanese Imari porcelain dish dating to the 19th century, decorated in the typical Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt highlights. The design features a central floral arrangement within a circular reserve, surrounded by alternating panels of stylised chrysanthemums, foliage, and traditional motifs. The scalloped rim adds visual interest, while the reverse is simply decorated with three cobalt blue bats.
The plate measures approximately 16.5 cm in diameter. It remains in generally good antique condition, with expected signs of age and use, including a small chip to the rim at the reverse.
