Fine Shropshire Yeomanry Sweetheart Brooch by Garrard – Gold, Enamel, Ruby Eyes
A finely made sweetheart brooch or regimental badge for the Shropshire Yeomanry, marked GARRARD to the side. Crafted in unmarked gold, with evidence of two-tone construction — white to the front and yellow gold to the reverse of the crown. The badge is set with three leopard heads, each with ruby-red eyes, and detailed with fine enamel work in blue and red.
The quality of manufacture is high throughout, as expected from Garrard. The brooch is fitted with a sturdy pin and rollover clasp to the reverse and is hand-engraved with the numbers "1292" and "138".
Marked: GARRARD
Metal: Unmarked, but tests as gold
Stones: Red eyes (likely rubies or synthetic rubies), clear stones (possibly diamond or paste)
Weight: 5.0 grams
Dimensions: 3.0 cm high × 1.7 cm wide × 0.5 cm deep
Condition: Very good condition with minimal wear; enamel and stones intact
Offered in a later fitted case (Christopher Milton Stevens of Bath).
