Fine Large Antique French Kingwood & Ormolu Mounted Vitrine Display Cabinet
French, 19th century
A large and highly decorative French antique display cabinet of serpentine form, veneered in kingwood and mounted throughout with gilt bronze ormolu mounts in the Louis XV taste.
This impressive three-door vitrine features shaped glazed panels with flowing ormolu surrounds enclosing a shelved interior fitted with adjustable glass shelves, ideal for displaying porcelain, crystal, books or decorative objects. The bombe lower section is raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in ormolu sabots, with further foliate mounts and Rococo ornament throughout.
The cabinet displays attractive warm-toned kingwood veneers with crossbanded decoration across the doors and sides, complemented by finely cast gilt bronze mounts of good decorative quality. Of substantial scale and strong visual presence, the piece combines practicality with classic French decorative appeal.
