Pair of Early Victorian Brass Candlesticks – English, c.1840
Offered for sale is a well-proportioned pair of early Victorian brass candlesticks, dating to around 1840.
Each candlestick is of octagonal base form with a baluster-turned stem, crafted in solid brass. The pair display good weight and are well made, with evidence of hand-finishing to the undersides and typical period solder joints to the stem. The brass has developed a warm mellow tone, with light surface wear and minor marks consistent with age and use.
