Early 20th Century English Bronze Maritime Ship's Bell, circa 1920
A substantial and highly decorative early 20th century English bronze ship's bell, c.1920
Cast in the traditional maritime form with a broad flared body and moulded rim, the bell retains its original iron clapper, internal chain and pull, together with its suspension fitting. The bronze has developed a deep, richly aged patina accumulated through decades of service, displaying the honest wear and character expected of an authentic working maritime object.
The interior retains traces of its original red protective coating, while the bell remains fully functional, producing a clear and resonant tone. Its impressive scale and sculptural form make it an exceptional decorative piece, equally at home in a coastal property, country house, yacht club, restaurant, library or commercial interior.
Authentic ship's bells of this size and quality are increasingly sought after for their decorative impact and strong connection to Britain's maritime heritage.
Dimensions: 28 cm high × 24.5 cm diameter
Condition: Good antique condition with wear, oxidation and patination consistent with age and maritime use. Original clapper, chain and suspension fittings retained.
