G.B. - Lundy Island 1953

Coronation overprint issue, unadopted "CORONATION / 1953" overprints on the 1/2 puffin, 1 puffin (3), 2 puffin (2), 4 puffin, 6 puffin (2, torn), 9 puffin (4, one torn) and 12 puffin (3, one torn) stamps with overprints in both black and red in differing positions, all affixed to a Bradbury Wilkinson & Co Ltd card, dated "10 APR 1953" on the reverse.  Various endorsements include "add air" alongside the 2 puffin with red overprint and the 4 puffin stamps, with one stamp from each value being ringed to indicate the chosen overprint colour, although the ringed 12 puffin stamp has a red overprint whilst the issued overprint was in black.  The issued set all had overprints in the centre of the stamp and the date shown as "2-6-1953", whilst "BY AIR" was added to the 2 puffin and 4 puffin values.  A unique group of essays from the printers archives.
