Maria Theresa Thaler – 1780 Restrike A Maria Theresa Thaler silver coin, featuring the standard 1780 date, which has been used on all official restrikes since the death of Empress Maria Theresa. Obverse: Portrait of Empress Maria Theresa facing right, draped and veiled, with the inscription M. THERESIA D.G. R. IMP. HU. BO. REG. Reverse: The Austrian double-headed eagle, symbol of the Habsburg Monarchy, with a central shield and the inscription ARCHID. AVST. DUX BURG. CO. TYR. 1780 X. Mint Mark: S.F., indicating an official restrike, likely from the 19th or 20th century. Metal: .833 fine silver Weight: 28 grams Diameter: 39.5 mm Edge: Engraved with VIRIBUS UNITIS ("With United Forces") Condition shows expected signs of age and handling, with visible wear and patina. A classic and historically significant silver trade coin.
