1886 Queen Victoria Gold Sovereign — London Mint A fine example of a British gold sovereign from the reign of Queen Victoria, dated 1886. Obverse: Features the elegant ‘Young Head’ portrait of Queen Victoria, designed by William Wyon, with the Latin inscription VICTORIA D.G. BRITANNIAR. REG. F.D. (Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britains, Defender of the Faith). Reverse: Displays Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic depiction of St. George slaying the dragon, with the date 1886 below.
