Painted only a year after the end of World War Two, it is possible that this piece was created to celebrate both beauty and peace in postwar Europe.
Previously held by a Northern art Gallery and before that, the collection of Belgian artist Ghislain Victor Carte.
This painting has a special provenance as the reverse still bears Estelle’s funeral note sent to Ghoslain and the work titled and dated 1946 in pencil
The painting is an oil on canvas laid to board and encased in a two tone frame.
Dimensions-43 x 38 cm
